The fortune (cookies) of family leave

Great day in Olympia for family leave – a group of four mothers from MomsRising.org, with babies and toddlers in tow, visited legislators to deliver fortune cookies to legislators with messages from MomsRising members like:

Voting for fully funded Family Leave Insurance makes your constituents very happy!

Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown (Spokane) got the first batch, and was clearly pleased to receive them, as was President Pro Tempore Rosa Franklin (Tacoma) and many others. Legislators got emails from constituents all across the state as well – with one message:

Fully fund Washington Family Leave in 2008.

So things are starting a positive note. Not only does Washington have a family leave law on the books, but there is a clear policy agenda for the months ahead.
